Library classes can help you find:

Classes begin at 11AM and generally last one hour, plus optional extra time for practice or personal assistance from the instructor. Whether you are just starting out or need a refresher to help you dig deeper, these interactive courses provide essential tools for continued professional development.
Attendance is free to the UT Southwestern community, as well as the staff of Parkland Health & Hospital System and Children’s Medical Center. Classes meet in the South Campus (main) Library classroom (Room E2.310A). Please register via the Library’s Web site.

October 20: Getting Better Results from Ovid
Go deeper into MEDLINE and related databases with the user-friendly Ovid interface.
November 10: Organizing Citations with EndNote
Save hours by gaining control of your bibliographies, notes, and sources. 90-minute class.
November 24: Discovering Social Media Resources for Researchers and Clinicians
Find out how to organize ejournal articles, communicate with colleagues, and stay current on hot topics using social media sites for biomedical professionals.

OvidSP introduces new journal functionality features

Ovid did it again! They have improved two of the OvidSP databasesBrowse Your Journals@Ovid and Browse All Journals – by adding these new features and functionality:
Journal A-Z page

  • Search bar for quickly searching all Ovid journals or journals your institution subscribes to on Ovid
  • Four navigational “widgets” – Filter by Availability, Filter by Title, Filter by Subject, and My Favorites – which can be collapsed or rearranged

Table of Contents page

  • Search bar for searching articles in the current issue or all issues of a journal; keyword and Advanced Search options are available
  • “Breadcrumb trail” will allow for easier navigation
  • Two navigational widgets: Journal Information and Issue List – which can be collapsed or rearranged

Full-text display of a specific journal article

  • Standardized screen resolution size for enhanced readability
  • “Breadcrumb trail” for easier navigation
  • Collapsible text sections and back-to-top links
  • Thumbnail images (when images are available) that enlarge in a pop-up window will appear together in an Image Gallery; images can also be exported to a PowerPoint presentation
  • Article Tools section that will include all your work functions, such as Jumpstart and PDF display links
