MICROMEDEX provides comprehensive drug, acute care, and toxicology information for point-of-care use by the clinician. It also offers 5,000 customizable patient care handouts (available in both English and Spanish) on drug/toxicology topics. Information is updated quarterly.
From the Micromedex home page, click on “Thompson Healthcare Evidence” for clinical information or “CareNotes System” for patient handouts.
Thompson Healthcare Evidence allows you to:

• Investigate mutiple intravenous drug compatibilities
• Search for single or multiple drug-drug, drug-food, drug-ethanol, and drug-lab test interactions
• Compare drug summaries in a side-by-side format
• View drug images for easier identification
• Download PDA versions compatible with both Palm OS and Pocket PCs

The CareNotes System allows you to:

• Access more than 1,180 drug topics to help you address patients’ drug information needs
• Retrieve over 200 lab documents to help patients understand why a test is being performed and what the results mean
• View color and 3-D graphics available within more than 250 of the CareNotes titles
