Off-campus access to Library resources temporarily suspended Friday, March 25, from 5 – 6 p.m. during EZproxy upgrade

Due to necessary maintenance of our EZproxy server, the Library’s electronic resources may be unavailable for approximately an hour beginning at 5 p.m. on Friday, March 25, 2016.

This upgrade should resolve recent access issues experienced at Childrens’ Health.

CONSTRUCTION UPDATE: South Campus Library computers and printers unavailable March 26-27

ElectricityMarThe South Campus (main) Library computers and printers will be unavailable this weekend (March 26-27, 2016) to perform electrical work/maintenance in the E2 construction areas. Wireless availability remains uncertain, but air conditioning and lighting will not be affected.

For any Library or Student computer/printing needs, please use the North Campus Branch Library (ND2.300) location.

The UT Southwestern Health Sciences Digital Library & Learning Center is currently trialing JAMAevidence, through April 8, 2016. Please provide feedback about the resource through this brief survey. JAMAevidence combines three evidence-based medicine (EBM) textbooks (Users’ Guide to the Medical Literature, 3rd. ed.; The Rational Clinical Examination; and Care at the Close of Life), as well as other educational tools for EBM training.

Surgical Instruments are the focus of the March 29 Rare Book Room Open House

IMG_3073On Tuesday, March 29, 2016, stop by the Health Sciences Digital Library & Learning Center’s Rare Book Room (E3.314D) from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. for “Surgical Instruments–From Army Pattern Chisel to Xyster“. Learn more about books, journals, and other materials in the Library’s special collections that highlight surgical instruments from the 18th century to the present. Several medical artifacts will also be on display, including surgical kits in wooden velvet-lined boxes, pocket kits, and more.

The Library offers a monthly series of open house events to the UT Southwestern community that feature different topics of interest from the special and digital collections. If you want more information about this event or others in the monthly series, please contact archives@utsouthwestern.edu.

Library acquires digital JAMA back issues from 1883-1997

The Library is pleased to announce that we recently purchased online access to every issue of JAMA and all of the JAMA specialty journals published from 1883-1997.  Access to these journals is now available through Ejournals A to Z and the catalog. Publications in the collection include:
