Five new ebook collections now available

eBooksApr

The UT Southwestern Health Sciences Digital Library & Learning Center is now providing access for our users to five new ebook collections:

You can also search the Library Catalog for title, author, publication date, or subject.  A direct link on the catalog page will take users directly to publisher eBooks platforms.

Important tip about ebook platforms : Ebook platforms are as varied as the evening sunset: some are awesome, while others are average; some offer mobile accessibility, while others don’t; and some permit downloading and printing of chapters in PDF, while others only allow online viewing as a web page. No two platforms are alike; however, most provide the option to create a personal account for ease of use and to facilitate searching.

April 29 Rare Book Room Open House: Spotlight on Tuberculosis

Slide1

On Friday, April 29, 2016, stop by the Health Sciences Digital Library & Learning Center’s Rare Book Room (E3.314D) from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. for “Spotlight on Tuberculosis”. Learn more about books, reports, journals, artifacts, stamps, and other materials in the library’s special collections that illuminate the history of tuberculosis in medicine. Additional resources will highlight connections to the disease in literature, music, and art.

The Library offers a monthly series of open house events to the UT Southwestern community that feature different topics of interest from the special and digital collections. If you want more information about this event or others in the monthly series, please contact archives@utsouthwestern.edu.

Library Catalog provides alternate access to journal subscriptions

4/6/2016 UPDATE:  We believe that the issues with the Ejournals AtoZ list have been resolved, but we will continue to closely monitor the situation.

Are you wondering why your favorite journals might not be showing up in Ejournals A to Z or via a full text link resolver in PubMed?

Unfortunately, many of our prominent ejournal collections were temporarily hidden from public view. We are in the process of re-establishing those connections and hope to resolve the matter as soon as possible.

In the meantime, our Library Catalog has all our ejournal listings, including access links with available subscription dates. Please check there first if you find that an established title is temporarily unavailable in Ejournals A to Z or a full text link does not work as expected.

UTSW Affiliates Library Resources access at Children's Health migrating to EZProxy Login only

EZproxyUT Southwestern affiliates working in Children’s Health will now be prompted with an EZProxy login in order to access all paid Library resources, which includes Ejournals A to Z, full text article linking, and clinical resources (e.g., UpToDate, ClinicalKey).

This change is being implemented to resolve compounding UT Southwestern Information Resources security and networking system access incompatibilities. Our resource vendors also require more clear authentication paths to ensure that only authorized UT Southwestern affiliates obtain access to licensed content. EZProxy authentication will streamline the process and provide clear access entry.

We apologize for the access troubles encountered over the last weeks and anticipate this fix will correct any problems that have not been resolved by previous measures.

If you are a UT Southwestern affiliate who still experiences access issues at Children’s Health, please report your issue to Liberesources@utsouthwestern.edu. Please include information about where you were attempting entry, what browser you are using, and your location.
