Non-Medical Bonus Titles in the Library Ejournal Collection

As a member of several library consortia groups, the Library obtains substantial savings on top-ranking biomedical journals included in consortial ejournal packages. Library consortia leverage the purchasing power of member institutions, which results in access to an expanded number of journal titles and other resources for each participating institution. Along with essential medical and health care periodicals, the bundled packages widen support for each institution’s services and programs by including titles from a variety of other disciplines and interests. Visit Ejournals & Ebooks A to Z to access bonus titles such as:

  • Architectural Design
  • Christian Science Monitor
  • Consumer Reports
  • Harvard Business Review

Library creates MERS-CoV Portal for reviewed information sources and tips

MERSPortalOn May 2, 2014, the U.S. Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) confirmed the first case of Middle East Respiratory Syndrome (MERS) coronavirus in the United States. The virus was found in a man who had traveled from Saudi Arabia to Indiana at the end of April.

The Library’s MERS-CoV (Coronavirus) Portal provides information – from a variety of national and international sources – on the current state of the disease.

Note to PubMed searchers: CORONAVIRUS and CORONAVIRUS INFECTIONS are the Medical Subject Headings (MeSH) most often used to describe MERS articles. Many MERS articles are recent and not yet indexed, so search by keyword as well as by MeSH.

Twitter users may also choose to search for the following hastags (in order of use): #MERS, #MERSCoV, and #coronavirus.

Web of Science returns!

Web of ScienceThe Library has restored access to Web of Science (WOS), which includes these databases:

  • Science Citation Index Expanded (1900 to present)
  • Social Sciences Citation Index (1900 to present)
  • Arts & Humanities Citation Index (1975 to present)
  • Conference Proceedings Citation Index, Science Edition (1990 to present)
  • Conference Proceedings Citation Index, Social Sciences & Humanities Edition (1990 to present)

Previous WOS personal accounts may still be active if you have continued to receive alert updates. The WOS representative recommends checking for prior accounts before creating new ones.

Middle Floor re-opens for spacious 24/7 study; new microwave added on Main Floor

micromiddleThe South Campus Library Middle Floor has officially re-opened as a spacious 24/7 quiet zone study area.

Additionally, a commercial grade microwave has been placed on a table in the corner by the lockers on the Main Floor. Auxiliary Enterprises graciously donated it for use. Cleaning supplies have been placed by the machine to assist with any spills and splatters acquired while in use.

All print books & journals arrive at Joint Library Facility

DSC_0471The Library has just completed the huge task of moving print books and journals to the Joint Library Facility (JLF) in College Station, Texas.

The print items are officially changed to read “JLF” in the Library’s catalog, and JLF staff has placed top priority in processing our collection over other participating institutions. Processing is anticipated to be complete by Fall 2014.

In the interim, Interlibrary Loan (ILLiad) may assist you in obtaining any of our resources from another institution at standard ILL rates until the JLF completes its processing of the collection. Once the processing is complete, only journal articles will require standard ILL rates; books will be provided at no cost.
