NeoFax: Neonate drug and nutrition resource

NeoFax is a newly-added information resource designed to help clinicians and pharmacists accurately prescribe, formulate, and admininster essential drugs and parenteral nutrition solutions for infants.
Since commercially-available drugs are not tested on infants in the United States, more than 90 percent of drugs prescribed to infants are off-label. By providing complete neonatal drug information covering more than 180 substances, NeoFax help reduce medication errors and decreases time spent ordering and compounding.
Access this new resource on the Library Web site by using the “Search for” box, or from the UT Southwestern Clinical Portal page. Internet Explorer is the required browser; no other browsers are certified for this product. The Library license restricts use to UT Southwestern faculty, staff, students and contractors who are trained in the field for which the product is being utilized.
For more information, see the NeoFax information page on the publisher’s Web site. If you have questions, use the Contact Us form on the Library Web site.

COS allows you to:

  • Search for funding opportunities by field of specialization
  • Set up “Alerts” to be notified of new funding opportunities as they become available
  • Track changes in funding listings
  • Store a curriculum vitae (CV) with a fixed URL to allow referrals to the CV
  • Establish a profile in “COS Scholar Universe” to allow potential collaborators to locate you based on specialty

Read more about COS at the Instructions page which features:

  • Frequently Asked Questions (FAQs)
  • Tutorials
  • Tips on Searching

In addition to FirstConsult, another time-saving MD Consult feature is pre-researched “recommended results” on 200 common medical topics. These results link to textbook discussions on essential aspects of the topic.
MD Consult also offers a search box for keyword searching.
MD Consult’s comprehensive collection of information resources includes access to:

  • Full text of more than 50 leading medical textbooks
  • Over 50,000 high-quality images
  • Extensive drug information provided by Gold Standard
  • Full-text articles from 35 “Clinics” journals and over 50 other journals
  • Patient education handouts in English and Spanish
  • And more…see the MD Consult welcome page for details

MD Consult offers the advantage of being accessible directly from off-campus, as well as on-campus, once the user has established a user name and password. (This feature is only available to UT Southwestern affiliates.) Most other Library electronic resources can be accessed from off-campus only via Virtual Private Network (VPN).

Library invites suggestions, comments, questions

Do you have suggestions, comments, or questions about the Library? Let us know by using the Tell Us What You Think (TUWYT) page on the Library Web site (find it under the “Get Help/Ask Us” link on the left sidebar).
We’ll post replies on the TUWYT page. If you provide contact information, you’ll receive a personal response. TUWYT operates in blog format, so further comments can be made on the Library’s reply. Suggestions and comments received on paper suggestion forms will be posted on TUWYT page as well. A link to the TUWYT policies can be found on the TUWYT page.
If you have questions about how to find information, rather than about the Library itself, please fill out the Ask a Librarian form on the Web site to send a query directly to our research librarians. For technical questions or problems, use the Contact Us form.
